I get into SF for work generally once a month or so and Hogwash is usually on the itinerary, tucked midway on Sutter St. it's a great little space inside. I'm usually on my own here so I pull up a stool at the bar and enjoy the quick easy service. Menu is really simple, some good starters, bunch of sausage bsed sandwiches (different types of sausage) or plates and great beer. Really one of the better beer selections around and the guys are great at finding you something, they know their inventory. I recently came here and started off with a Belching Beaver Merry Hops DIPA, really great, was a suggestion and it had a bit more fruit forward beer which I usually don't care for but it rolled off real quick and just brought the IPA pieces out, great for a veteran IPA drinker or a newbie just venturing in. I ordered the Beets and warm goat cheese as a starter and these are always great. The beets are a variety of beets from what looks like some blood or detroit darks and touchstones. Great earthy dish with just the right amount on goat cheese. I grabbed another beer, this time the Revision 3XIPA this is a great choice, really hop forward and at 11.3 not too many other beers out there with much more. Had the Abe Froman sandwich with a fried duck egg added and it didn't disappoint. The roll was substantial and crunchy as always and the sandwich. was fantastic. Great service, excellent food, great beer selection. My only caution is if you're looking for something quiet this isn't it.

Love this place - especially mid week when it's not as crowded. Good food and tons of beer options. Super clean inside and I've never had bad service. For food they have a variety of different sausages and sandwiches. I had a sausage sandwich last night with some sort of duck egg or something of that sort on top and it was delicious. They also have this pretzel thing that's pretty good too. This place gets pretty packed on Fridays and Saturdays which is why I prefer coming during the weekdays. I've always enjoyed myself even with it being crowded.

The food menu looked amazing but I came here right after dinner so was not hungry. We came for drinks and they had a good variety of beer with roughly 20 on tap. They have decent amount of seating for the small layout. Cool bar near Union Square.

This place is so good. We went on a Tuesday night and it was very easy to find seating. The bar was comfy with some highboy seating. We ordered items that were all off of the charts. Sausage platter- one of each kind, sliced and ready to eat. Olives with side of house made pesto and bread. Pretzel bread Fries Split of champs and beer. It was all so delicious. It's hard finding a good establishment in union square where it's all filled with tourists. Was thrilled to stumble over this place after an event at the Sir Francis Drake. Don't miss out. There's plenty of beers on tap.
